Education Support Professionals play a vital role in creating a safe, supportive, and welcoming learning environment for every student. Whether it’s ensuring classrooms are clean, meals are served, or students get to school safely, their hard work and dedication make a difference every single day.
Our support team goes above and beyond to serve all our campuses, both inside and outside their designated areas. For example at W.B. Wicker, an "All Hands on Deck" approach means that even the custodial staff takes extra time to assist students, including offering additional study sessions to help them succeed.
Whether they are the smiling faces students see first thing in the morning when they get on the bus, the friendly voices greeting parents on the phone or at the front office, assisting teachers in classroom lessons and management or serving meals in the cafeteria, today we celebrate the vital role each Education Support Professional plays in creating a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment where all students can thrive.
Happy Educational Support Professionals Day to each of you! We are glad you are part of our #LCSfamily

In a community growing as quickly as Sanford, it is critical to have an educated and prepared workforce to help provide the labor needed to sustain growth over the long haul. That is a major reason why Lee County Schools provides opportunities for students to learn trades through Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses like construction, masonry and carpentry.
Many of these students have helped build homes for Habitat for Humanity here in Lee County. It is always our goal for these students that through their time in class they are fully equipped and ready to jump on with local contractors as skilled laborers in the summer and after graduation. #LCSthrive #CareerDevelopmentWeek

This week is National Career Development Week and it is a great time to highlight the countless opportunities students in Lee County Schools have to get prepared for the workforce through Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs in Lee County Schools!
Did you know that over 100 businesses in Lee County provided LCS students with apprenticeship or internship opportunities within the last year? These apprenticeship programs with businesses like Sanford Contractors, countless local restaurants, Wilkinson Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, GMC, or the award-winning Caterpillar Welding Apprenticeship program give our students real world opportunities to put their CTE coursework into practice and have marketable experience on their resume straight out of high school. #LCSthrive #CareerDevelopmentWeek

Going the EXTRA mile. Students at LCS have a tremendous number of extracurricular opportunities that support and enrich their educational experiences. Extracurricular activities like participation in band, community service groups, topical clubs and athletics can enhance social skills, build leadership qualities, and even improve academic performance.
Studies often show that students actively involved in extracurriculars tend to have a more positive school experience and higher engagement levels with academic subjects. Check out some pictures from the Brick Capital Classic, the final festival of the season for the marching bands from Lee County High and Southern Lee and you will find some highly engaged and talented student leaders. #LCSthrive

GETTING THE JOB. Every year students from Lee County & Southern Lee High Schools participate in mock job interviews with employers from across the community. While these interviews do not directly lead to a job, they do give our students boosted confidence and comfort as they step into the job market in search of work.
Career guidance and practical application is just one more way that Lee County Schools and our Career & Technical Education programs are building tomorrow's workforce today. #LCSthrive

Parents and families, please take a look at this update about how attendance is tracked in the new student information system. To be considered present, students must attend at least 51% of the instructional day. If you have questions about the impact of the new student information system on absences or tardies, please contact your child's school.

As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we are developing a strategic plan for Lee County Schools and we highly value your input. We initiated this effort by assembling a team of diverse community leaders to form the foundation of our strategic planning committee. We invite LCS staff and community members to join this team and contribute their perspectives. To complete the team, we will be adding parent representatives, community members, certified and classified LCS employees. If you are interested in joining this committee, please complete this form (bit.ly/LCSplan24) by November 15th.

This week is National School Psychology Week. Did you know that LCS has two school psychologists and an educational diagnostician that serve the needs of all 17 LCS campuses.
School psychologists work is designed to help students succeed academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally by applying their knowledge of mental health, learning, and behavior. They work with students, families, and teachers to create a supportive learning environment and address issues that impact a student's performance.
Join us in saying thank you to our School Psychologists, Randy Staats and Angela Piekielniak, as well as our Educational Diagnostician, Stephanie Hayden for their dedication to ensuring all students are able to thrive in Lee County Schools. #LCSthrive

LISTENING & LEARNING. Student Advisory Groups, particularly at our high schools, help give district leadership feedback and stay up to date on the latest needs and feelings of students in the district. They're also playing a role in informing the district's Strategic Planning process.
Last week, Dr. Dossenbach and several Central Office staff met with student advisory groups at each high school, including this one from Bragg Street Academy. We're thankful for students that are willing to make their voices heard and help find solutions to the most challenging tasks facing our schools and we're thrilled that they are prepared to use their voice to help others grow. #LCSthrive

(2 of 2) As we close National Principals Month, we pause to celebrate and appreciate the leaders that drive our district forward. Our principals are not just managers of things, they are leaders of people. Their vision and dedication help set the course for our staff to lead students towards success.
Lee County is so lucky to have these 17 individuals who serve as principal on each of our campuses. We're also thankful for the many other administrators who serve as assistant principals across the district. Our students and communities are better places thanks to the focused leadership and commitment to students you display each day.
Please join us in thanking the principals across Lee County Schools, and show your love for the ways they care for, lead, and serve our students and faculty!
