Agricultural education is a key part of Career and Technical Education (CTE), and it focuses on teaching students about the science, business, and technology of plant and animal production, as well as natural resource management. It provides students with the skills needed for careers in agriculture, food production, environmental science, and related fields.
In agricultural education, students typically engage in a mix of classroom learning, hands-on experiences, and leadership development activities. One well-known component of agricultural education is FFA (Future Farmers of America), which is an organization that helps students develop leadership, teamwork, and communication skills while preparing them for careers in agriculture.
Ag education is a great choice for students interested in farming, sustainability, food production, and rural development.

Today was a day to celebrate students. Today was a day to celebrate staff. Today was a day to celebrate growth, commitments made, commitments kept through perseverance, dedication and determination. Today was a day to celebrate J. Glenn Edwards Elementary School.
Students, staff and community partners gathered to honor J. Glenn Edwards Elementary School for winning the 2023-2024 Lee County Education Foundation "Head of Class" Award as the elementary school that achieved the most growth in the previous school year. The ceremony was a wonderful time for students and staff to reflect on the sacrifices they all made as they committed to push one another each day toward higher academic achievement.
The Lee County Education Foundation also presented a $75,000 check to J. Glenn Edwards in recognition of their outstanding achievement, and each attendee was challenged to commit to do the best thing for students each day. The glowing faces of students, families and staff are a sure sign that this day of celebration is not a day they will soon forget!
Congratulations to all the students, staff, and families of J. Glenn Edwards for a job well done! #LCSthrive

Due to lingering snow and ice expected to refreeze overnight on many secondary roads and neighborhoods, as well as the potential for black ice on bridges and roadways, Lee County Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay for students and staff on Friday, January 24, 2025.
This delay will allow buses and other vehicles to travel safely during daylight hours. Please exercise caution while traveling, and thank you for your understanding as we prioritize the safety of our students and staff.
Due to road conditions, Lee County Schools will continue with remote learning on Thursday, January 23, 2025 for students and staff. While many main roads experienced some melting, numerous secondary roads, neighborhood streets, and school parking lots remain too dangerous for safe travel.
There will be no live instruction for students on this remote learning day. Students will have five days to complete assignments to receive credit for the day.
Staff members should consult with their immediate supervisors regarding any work to be completed from home.
We appreciate your understanding as we prioritize the safety of our students and staff. Please stay safe and warm.
A message from Dr. Dossenbach: Put the books away for a bit today and enjoy the snow for a bit today! Dress warmly and have a blast! #LCSthrive
