LCS announces five leadership position changes across the district.

SANFORD, NC – Following the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday night, Superintendent Dr. Chris Dossenbach announced several administrative changes for the 2024-2025 school year. In making the announcement, Dossenbach said, “These administrative changes continue our efforts to align our leadership with our goals of improved academic performance and quality educational opportunities for all students.”     

Dr. Natalie KellySanLee Middle School Principal Dr. Natalie Kelly has been appointed Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, bringing a wealth of experience and a proven track record of academic success to her new role. Kelly has 13 years of experience in school administration and has served as principal at both J. Glenn Edwards Elementary and SanLee Middle Schools.

 

Christian ChaneyWith Kelly’s departure, Greenwood Elementary Principal Christian Chaney will take the reins as principal at SanLee Middle School. Chaney brings seven years of leadership experience with him to his new role, including four as principal. While at Greenwood, he has been instrumental in fostering a culture of collaboration and academic excellence.

 

Alan CaywoodAlan Caywood, who has served as Greenwood Elementary assistant principal for the past four years, will assume the role of principal following Chaney’s transition to SanLee Middle. As assistant principal, Caywood has immersed himself in the culture of Greenwood Elementary and proven his leadership ability to continue the school’s success.

 

All three administrators will begin transitioning into their new roles in April, with an official start date of June 1. 

 

Two other administrative changes were also announced last night.

Stephanie ClarkeCurrent B.T. Bullock Elementary School Principal Stefanie Clarke will move into the role of Executive Director of Accountability, Planning and Performance following the retirement of veteran educator Wendy Carlyle on June 30. This position has been revamped to encompass additional departmental responsibilities, taking advantage of Clarke’s 10 years of leadership and academic success as principal.

 

Dr. Kate HyltonDr. Kate Hylton has been appointed to replace Clarke as principal of B.T. Bullock Elementary School. Hylton has served as assistant principal at Tramway Elementary School for the past two years. Her 19-year education career spans both elementary and middle school levels.

 

While these two appointments officially become effective on July 1, Clarke and Hylton will transition into their roles after the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year. The search for assistant principals for Greenwood and Tramway Elementary Schools will begin immediately.
