Careers Brick By Brick

Christina Caulder is superior at her trade. And super fast. The Lee County HS junior went from her Masonry 1 class to stack 168 bricks in 30 minutes at the Jr. Spec Mix Bricklayer 500 regional, part of the world’s largest masonry challenge!

Our students, like Christina, enjoy an impressive selection of exceptional career and technical classes — all while pursuing lucrative careers with the help of world-class apprenticeships, free professional certifications and national competitions. #LCSthrive

 2023-24 CAT Orientation Session

Both parents and newly inducted CAT welding apprentices packed the house for the CAT Welding Apprenticeship Orientation in mid August.  The orientation provided new apprentices the opportunity to meet CCCC welding instructors, CAT supervisors, and gain valuable insight to what their "school day" will look like for the next two years.

Anyone interested in learning more about this apprenticeship opportunity, please visit the CAT Youth Apprenticeship tab on this website or contact the Career Development Coordinators at either Lee County High School or Southern Lee High School.

2023 Sanford Contractors Construction Academy Summer Internship Wrap-up

Students in our Sanford Contractors Construction Academy, created with Central Carolina Community College and ApprenticeshipNC, not only earned credentials and got valuable experience.  At the end of the nine week program, six of the 11 students completing the academy had already been hired by the company to work wither part or full time and discussions were underway to hire even more based upon the students current educational commitments.

Designed as a pre-apprenticeship "learn and earn experience", the academy was created by Sanford Contractors to help high school students seriously interested in construction get hands-on experience and a taste for what a career in the industry might be like.

Plans are already underway for the 2024 Sanford Contractors Construction Academy. Students (grades 11 & 12) who are interested in a career within the construction field are encouraged to speak with their Career Development Coordinator at their respective school about the program.  More information can also be found at the Sanford Contractors Construction Academy tab on this website.
