Calendar Updates for LCS 2025-2026

Updated LCS Calendars for 2025-26: Traditional & LEC | Tramway

SANFORD, NC - During the regular March meeting of the Lee County Board of Education on Tuesday night, the Board approved several changes to the previously approved academic calendars for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. These calendars were originally approved a year ago and it was expected that some adjustments would have to be made to accommodate local elections and other events.

The largest change came to the 2025-2026 Lee Early College (LEC) Calendar, which will now match the Traditional Calendar for all Lee County Schools, with the exception of Tramway. This change better aligns with the calendar for Central Carolina Community College (CCCC), where nearly all LEC students take courses. It also helps alleviate some transportation and logistical concerns around daily student meals.

Due to the calendar adjustments, LEC students will now graduate on Thursday, May 27, 2026.

The Traditional Calendar moved one teacher workday, originally scheduled for September 3rd, to September 9th to accommodate local elections. The changes also added a teacher workday on March 3, 2026, another change predicated by recently announced election dates.

The calendar for the district’s year-round elementary school, Tramway Elementary, will see quite a few adjustments from the originally announced calendar. Tramway is adding a teacher workday on August 6th to allow their staff to participate in the district-wide Convocation, which will launch the school year and the district’s new Strategic Plan.

Other changes to the schedule at Tramway include switching September 15th and 16th to intersession days from teacher workdays, making October 16th and 17th workdays instead of student days, while adjusting March 16th and 17th to student days rather than the previously scheduled intersession.

“We are pleased to have to make minimal changes to our calendar and remain committed to providing a rolling two-year approved calendar to help our student’s families plan important events and family vacations,” said Stacie Eggers, Assistant Superintendent of Operations. “While there are challenges scheduling two years  in advance, working with the Board of Education to make these changes gives us the flexibility we need to serve the community as a civic hub in election season and provide ample time for families to make their calendars.”
