The Southern Lee FFA Chapter took its annual trip to the NC Southern Farm Show on February 6th, 2025. The NC Southern Farm Show is the largest agricultural exposition in the Carolinas, held annually at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh, NC. The event brings together farmers, agribusiness professionals, and industry leaders to showcase the latest in farming equipment, technology, and services.
Key Features of the NC Southern Farm Show:
Exhibitors & Equipment: Displays of tractors, combines, irrigation systems, livestock handling equipment, and other cutting-edge agricultural machinery.
Educational Seminars: Expert-led sessions covering topics like precision farming, livestock management, sustainability, and agribusiness trends.
Networking Opportunities: Farmers, suppliers, and industry professionals connect to share knowledge and explore business opportunities. Students are able to meet and connect with members of FFA Chapters from around the state. SLHS FFA Chapter member Kailynn Torres said that it was "awesome to see such a big group of FFA kids in one space."
Live Demonstrations: Hands-on showcases of new farming techniques and equipment. SLHS FFA Chapter Sentinel Luke Johnson said that his favorite demonstration was the Lumberjack Show presented by the South Atlantic Woodsmen's Association (SAWA) sponsored by STIHL. Lumberjacks demonstrated Axe throwing, chopping logs with precision, chainsaw demonstrations emphasizing safety and efficiency as well as springboard tree climbing techniques.
Annual NC FFA Tractor and Truck Driving Competitions. The event showcases competitor's skills through a difficult course of driving maneuvers. SLHS FFA Chapter Vice-President Macy Stark said that this event was the highlight of her trip to the show. She liked to see how each competitor took a different approach to the driving route.
This event is a must-visit for farmers and agribusiness professionals looking to stay updated on the latest industry trends and advancements.
