Learn about her passion for math, confidence in her students and love of teaching
The beginning pages of The Saber, under the direction of Mrs. Ward begins with a remarkable staff member. "Annually, the Southern Lee Saber staff looks for a special staff member of Southern Lee to dedicate the year book to who has shown commitment, patience, honesty inside and outside the classroom. This year’s 2023-2024 yearbook has been dedicated to Amy Lyczkowski. After more then 25 years of teaching across Southern Lee and schools in Randolph County, Mrs. Lyczkowski has continued to show the reason as to why she deserves this honor.
Mrs. Lyczkowski has filled in the gaps in knowledge with unmatched passion. She has created environment where everyone is welcome to ask questions, struggles are treated with patience and victories are acknowledged. Whether it is solving the riddles of geometry or cracking the code of calculus, she has created a culture of growth and exploration, inspiring us to reach for the stars and beyond. She has molded students into the problem solvers, critical thinkers and lifelong learners we are today with her insight, direction and enduring trust in our abilities."
Brimming with excitement, she had a few words to share about receiving this prestigious accolade. “I am honored to be chosen. There are so many wonderful and dedicated teachers at this school. It is humbling when students select you for an award. I’ve always felt that they are the only ones who truly know what kind of teacher you are. Thank you all! What a fun way to close out my career.”
“Inside the class, she mixes humor with detailed explanation to help me better understand Math 2. She never stopped believing in her students, confident they all can master the material.” Tyanna C. shared. She is adored by her students and respected by her peers.
