Everyone knows that at LEC we have amazing students, but we know that they couldn't be as amazing as they are without the support of super awesome parents! At LEC , we believe that when parents and schools work together, students have the best chance for success. As part of parent week, we will be shining the spotlight on some of our LEC Parents to highlight the importance of school and parent partnerships.
Meet Mrs. Shani Whilby
Mrs. Whilby is the parent of two fantastic Cobra's! Her son Parrish is a 2024 graduate who currently attends NC State University, while Kai is a 10th grade student at LEC. We are grateful the Whilby family are members of Team LEC!
1. Why did you choose LEC for your child?
There are so many reasons my boys chose LEC, and I agreed with them all. They both wanted the opportunity to graduate from high school with a college degree, and to attend school in an accepting and supportive environment where everyone can feel free to be themselves.
2. What is/was your most memorable experience during your child's time here?
My most memorable experience was receiving an unexpected phone call from a teacher, just to tell me how much he enjoyed having my child in class. As a parent, knowing that your child is known and valued is priceless!
3. What advice do you have for other parents considering LEC?
My advice for prospective LEC parents is to talk to current or former LEC parents and students. Some of the best aspects of LEC just can't be fully explained with a list of facts and statistics. There is a whole different feel to the school, and the staff is like no other.
4.Is there anything you'd like to add/share/shout out?
I have a class of 2024 LEC graduate who now attends NC State, and a current 10th grade student. I couldn't be happier with their high-school choice!
