This year, Lee County Schools and the Lee County Association of Educators are co-hosting our annual Scholars Night to celebrate the achievements of our district's students on Monday, May 13th at 7 PM.
LCHS has an exciting 84 students that qualified as scholars (earning A's for quarters 1-3), including the only eighth year scholar.
It would be wonderful for Lee County High School students to be cheered on by the educators and parents who impact them every day in their school.
We hope to see you there!

Thank you for everything you do behind the scenes, Mrs. Barnhill. We see you, and we appreciate you! Happy Principal's Appreciation Day!

Today, students in Mrs. Morton’s World History class, presented on an ancient civilizations. They were given one of these civilizations: Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, Ancient India, Ancient China, Ancient Greece, or Ancient Rome. Students were assigned partners where they were to follow the rubric and create a presentation to inform the class about the civilization that they were given.

The Math 2 Honors students had the opportunity to learn some calculator coding earlier this week. These students were given a program code and had to enter it correctly into their TI-84 calculators. If the calculator was programmed correctly, they would display the Sierpinski Triangle. The Sierpinski triangle is a self-similar fractal. It consists of an equilateral triangle, with smaller equilateral triangles recursively removed from its remaining area. , which is named after the Polish mathematician Wacław Sierpiński.
Just look at that confidence!!! WE LOVE STEM AT LCHS!!!

Students from Lee County High School not only participated but also secured positions in the Congressional App Challenge. They represented NC District 9 in the #HouseofCode event on April 11th in the U.S. Capitol in Washington DC. Their innovative application not only showcased their exceptional skills in technology and programming but also highlighted the importance of STEM education in shaping future leaders. As a nationwide competition encouraging students to pursue careers in STEM and computer science, artificial intelligence presents an opportunity to empower a broader audience to engage in coding. Their work will also be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.

We had a total of 24 students from Lee Senior and Southern Lee attend a Newcomer field trip on April 10th. The Newcomer Group Abriendo Puertas focuses on acculturation to their new country and this trip was a small part of that. Throughout the school year, we hold monthly sessions where we talk about how they have processed the transition to the US. We provide them a safe space to grieve the loss of their home country while discussing the differences and challenges they have in their first year of high school.
