Last night, J.R. Ingram Elementary hosted its much-anticipated Cultural Night, a celebration of the rich diversity within our school community. Families and staff came together to share and showcase their cultural heritage through informative booths representing various countries, including Jamaica, the Philippines, Colombia, Guyana, Guatemala, Mexico, Honduras, and El Salvador. Attendees enjoyed learning about these countries through fascinating facts, unique artifacts such as money and pottery, and even sampling delicious traditional foods.

The event also featured special performances. Our talented third graders, under the direction of Mr. Miller, delighted the crowd with a series of songs and dances. Additionally, Magesti 4-H prepared and performed several traditional dances, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the night.

Principal Brewer emphasized the importance of events like Cultural Night in fostering a strong and inclusive school community. “At J.R. Ingram, we deeply value the diversity that enriches our school. Cultural Night is a wonderful opportunity for us to come together, learn from each other, and celebrate the rich cultures that make our school so special. It’s these shared experiences that build understanding and unity among our students, staff, and families.”

This year’s Cultural Night was made possible through the vision and hard work of Ms. Sanchez, who coordinated the event with the support of our staff and families. “None of this would have been possible without Ms. Sanchez’s leadership and the incredible efforts of everyone involved,” said Principal Brewer.

As the night came to a close, the sense of pride and unity was clear. J.R. Ingram’s Cultural Night is a shining example of how our diverse community comes together to create a school environment that celebrates, learns from, and honors all cultures. It is the rich variety of backgrounds and experiences that truly make J.R. Ingram an amazing place to learn and grow.

We look forward to continuing to celebrate our diversity and build connections within our community as we remain “Wild About Learning.”
