Safety & Security
At Lee County Schools we know that students thrive when they have a safe learning environment and our staff thrive when they have a safe working environment. It is the goal of our Safety and Security Department to ensure procedures and protocols are in place to help prevent disruptions to our schools, but also be prepared to respond should there be a disruption.

How can I share a safety concern?
It is vital that parents and schools work together to create a safe learning environment. If you have a safety concern that you would like to share you can do it one of several ways. You may call your child's school to notify an administrator, you can email the school administrators, or you can submit an online tip through the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System. How does LCS keep my child safe while at school?
In addition to ensuring proper supervision at all times, Lee County Schools does the following to ensure student safety:
Monthly fire drills as required according to § 115C-288.d.
At least one annual school lock-down drill as required according to
§ 115C‑105.49
All school exterior doors are locked and secured, requiring visitors to enter through the main entrance where they are greeted by staff.
Use of metal detectors for daily screening of students and visitors at all traditional high schools and Bragg Street Academy.
What do I do if there is an emergency at my child's school?
If there is an incident at your child's school, please do not rush to the school. The roads need to be open to allow law enforcement and first responders to access the school as quickly as possible. The school will communicate with parents/guardians as soon as possible. It is important to remember that in a true emergency, the school will not be able to answer the phone or initiate communication right away, so please be patient and know that student safety is our priority in an emergency. Please see the document below regarding emergency reunification procedures that could be used if an incident necessitates it.
