Dear Lee County Schools Community,
I count it one of the great honors of my life to serve on the Lee County Board of Education. I stand on the shoulders of all the past chairs of this distinguished Board. And the current Board stands on the shoulders of all former Board members. The work of this Board is never done in isolation and the sum is always greater than the individual members.
I am indeed fortunate to serve with a talented group of men and women who are willing to really listen and discuss the issues before us. Our Board certainly does have different views on things but we always try to be respectful of one another, because the singular thing that unites us is the students, teachers, and staff in Lee County Schools. This Board works diligently for the betterment of education in our County.
The Board of Education that has served together since December of 2022 through the present, working in cooperation with Central Office staff, teachers, and school staff, has already achieved some significant accomplishments but we are not done yet. There is still much to be done and this Board is determined to do even more.
Our charge is to help fulfill the ruling of the North Carolina Supreme Court, in its landmark Leandro v. State of North Carolina decision, that affirmed the fundamental right of every child to access a sound basic education.
Our goal is to prepare every student for their next pathway in life. We will continue to work tirelessly to that end.
We will continue to strive to thrive!
